I started the morning with book activities. Not reading, but archiving. As part of my ‘migration’ to micro.blog I’m going to enter all the books I read since approx. 2012 in the Bookshelves so they will appear on my site. Because I only have a list in chronological order, but no indication at what date or in which year I finished the book it will be a time-consuming manual activity. But hey, it’s summer vacation and it is raining, so the perfect activity on a lazy Sunday morning with good company.

Me: Look, I have a nice little chair for you with a red towel so you can sleep comfortably while I’m working in my study.
Cat: I’m fine.

At 10 AM we started to prepare for the family gathering at our place later in the afternoon. We had some belated birthdays and other highlights to celebrate and when we agreed a few weeks back to do this with us one of the main reasons was we have enough space outside to set up a swimming pool for the kids (and grown ups as well). Well, we ended up inside due to the rain, wind and low temperatur. But we had a lot of fun, good food and drinks, and decided to do this soon again with better weather conditions.

When all were gone I considered going for a run but decided to just go for a short walk and take some pictures. I managed to stay dry before I returned home where my wife complained that after a recent upgrade of our Heos app the surround sound doesn’t work anymore. Only some muffled sound is coming from the front speaker. I tried everything but couldn’t solve it. So I gave up and took a book to end the day. But alas, that was also not very rewarding. Time to sleep.

Currently reading: The Housemaid by Freida McFadden.

This evening I gave this book another try. Yesterday I read the first 50 page of it and was not really enthousiastic. Usually I keep on reading for at least 100 pages if I don’t really like the book, just to see if my opinion becomes more positive. And in almost all cases I finish the book. That didn’t happen today. The story felt so predictable, and the characters were so flat and stereotype that I put the book away after another 10 pages. There are other books waiting for me which I rather start/continue to read. The issue here is that the book is a gift. Maybe I will try again in a few days or weeks from now.
